Hi

I'm having a problem with my parents computer that I put together with some old bits and pieces and some sticky tape. Basically, windows is taking a very long time to load and sometimes infact it freezes after the CPU check and remains on the black screen. If i cut the power at the socket and reboot it does start but again takes ages to load windows. I thought it must be a memory issue as, a few months ago, I chucked in a couple of old sticks of 256 PC3200 I had lying around to replace the 1 x 256 of PC2100 that was orginally in there. I didn't expect it to work but as it did i just left it in. Now this issue has slowly developed. Have I fried the RAM? Or is it just the wrong sort? I tried removing one stick at a time and booting but it won't have it, the CPU test beep doesn't even sound. Only when both sticks are present will it power up. Unfortuneatly, I don't have the orginal PC2100 to put back in and test. Any help is mUch appreciated.
