ok this is not a custon build didnt have enough confidence got it built by a local comp shop. should of built myself built 3 since all fine.
anyway my problem is the maxtor hard drive on this Crunches loudly i mean think of someone eating a pack of crisps (potatoe chips for you americans) as loud as they can then times by 10 its loud believe me.
now trying to open ie and word at the same time causes this computer to lag unbelievably which is not what a amd running at nearly 2 ghx should be doing.
anyway why i think is the hd. well whenever it lags the annoying noise begins.
any help would be appreciated

Hi,

Don't know what help this will be for you, but I would begin backing everything up on that drive if the data is important to you.

If you are convinced that the drive is mnaking the noise, and it lags each time it does make the noise, then I would say it is on its way out and you don't have much time.

My advice, get another drive. Connect it up and use the software that comes with the new drive to clone/copy everything from the old one. Once done, remove the old drive, connect the new one as primary, and away you go.

Good luck.
