I burned a backup of Colin McRae 2.0 with Nero but the backup doesnīt work. It installs but when I click the start icon it searches the disk and then.. nothing.
I checked with CDchecker to see if it burned files incorrectly. It didnīt. The amount of files and folders, the size of the cd, everything is thesame but the backup cd just doesnīt work. I tried the cd copy option and burning from image file.
Anybody any ideas? (Tried the trial version of clone cd, same story).

The game CD uses copy protection to keep people like you from copying the games and giving them to friends. Not saying you were doing that but in most cases it will disallow backup disc playing. You have probably 3 options: 1. Use the original game disc 2. Crack the game so that it doesn't check for the CD anymore(this is illegal I think, technically ;) ) www.megagames.com 3. Use an emulator such as Daemon Tools to emulate SafeDisc or SecuROM or whatever protection scheme it is. You will need to make a 1:1 copy with CloneCD for this to work. A program called ClonyXL works with CloneCD to tell you what the copy protection is and what settings to use when copying it.
Hope that helps.
