Comment:

I am using window 2000 server running two SISC harddisk and now I want to backup the two harddisk using IDE harddisk. However, when I connect the IDE harddisk using 'normal' IDE cable, the harddisk cannot be detected in the window. Is it a must that when I using SISC harddisk for booting, I cannot use IDE harddisk? If I really want to backup the SISC harddisk, what can I do? What method should I use after connecting the harddisk? I want that when the SISC harddisk die, I can use my IDE harddisk for booting (completely replace the SISC harddisk). What can I do if I want to copy the whole 0s and 1s from one harddosk to another?

Check the BIOS/CMOS setup and see if the IDE channels are enabled in there.
Yes, you can have both SCSI and IDE HD's at the same time.
Are the 2 SCSI HD's in a RAID setup?...disk mirroring, or duplexing? You have some fault tolerance if that's the case, however, you should consider adding a SCSI tape drive, and do back ups to tape. If this machine has important data, like a server usually does, you've goota be backing up in some fashion, or you'll pay at some point. You could also use a CD burner to back up important data.

HI
You must run fdisk or a 3rd party program for windows to see the hdd and if you want to boot from it an active partition must be set. Here are some other sites with infor on fdisk http://home.insightbb.com/~mesich/ and
http://fdisk.radified.com/
when you run fdisk besure you have the correct disk selected , you will looose all data on the drive doing partitioning!!!
I perfer to play it save and disconnect all other hdds from system.

to copy one hdd to another, if you need a program try here http://www.pcinspector.de/download.htm#file_recovery
and download clone maxx
