There is a computer at my work that has a hard drive that is going bad. I am wondering what the best backup solution is for when the hard drive finally goes bad. I need to be able to just swap hard drives once this drive dies. Can I set up a RAID 1 array with a established hard drive? It uses a sata interface and there are 2 sata porst on the motherboard. Let me know if anyone has any solutions

I'm sure you meant that you wish to perform the backup prior to the drive going bad.
How do you know the drive is going bad? Have you run a drive fitness test from the manufacturer?
As far as backups are concerned, I prefer to create an image using Ghost and burn directly to DVD. That is one of many options. I THINK you could create a RAID 1 array, assuming your MBoard supports that option. RAID 1 is mirroring. This redundancy requires two or more harddrives to be connected at all times.
If the drive in question IS going bad there could be a question of data integrity.
You may want to evaluate the importance of the data on that computer and also the importance of that computer being out of service for any length of time. The answers to those questions should determine how far you will need to go to protect the data.
