when I play a dvd, I hear the back ground noise, sound effects and such fine, but the narrator or actor, I only hear whispers....
If you're using a surround system, you have the center channel turned down. If this is just a stereo speaker setup, either the plug isn't inserted in the audio jack all the way. Or the plug or jack itself is bad. What you are getting is just the positive signal from both stereo channels. Anything in mono (IE voices) are canceled out. This can happen when the above mentioned connection problems occur.
