I got 2 sata hdd's with a lot of video files. Backing up files to DVD-discs would take forever and requires plenty of discs. So was thinking to buy one big external hdd, copy all videos to it and then unplug it. Is that good idea?

thats what i do, 2 copys of everything, if you unplugg the exturnal and dont keep it running after transfer stuff to it, its not likly to fail. 500 gigi extuals dont cost much more then 120

Always back up...I JUST LOST 800 gigs of edited video.
