Hi,

I am using Award Modular BIOS V4.51PG . The processor is Pentium 233 MHz, with 64 MB RAM . The hard drive is running win 98. Recently the battery of the motherboard dies and I replace it with a new one. After I did that, I load the default BIOS settings. However after I did that, the computer system won't load up. It will only boot until the drive and cd-rom detection at the BIOS stages and just stop there. It will not load into the windows.

can anyone advise me on this matter??

thanks a lot first.

greetings,
Patrick

Patrick,

In the BIOS you'll find an option to auto-detect the hard drive. You need to use this option.

I have that same bios on a 266 Pentium-II; mine is dated 10/97. Have you upgraded your hard disk? The auto-detect will not work for newer, larger drives. If you did upgrade HD, you might need something like EZ-bios to override non-recognition of larger drives. Also see www.unicore.com for BIOS upgrades for Award ($59).

I have been using the same configuration to run the system previously before the battery dies and it runs perfectly. After replacing the battery and loading the default settings it just die. What do you all think happen?

greetings,
Patrick
