It depends on the AVI format. What are the 'time' lengths of the videos. I think under two hours should fit.

I find the AUDIO file is empty, I open the VIDEO select all of the files & burn to dvd.

Depending on the program you are using, it might have a settings to limit the output size to 4.3GB

I use winavi, but dvd shrink might limit the size to 4.3GB for 2 or more avi files.
Or have a look at http://www.trustfm.net/divx/Softwar...

Just read your post again. Nero Vision Express converts to VOB.

From memory Nero Recode can add 2 avi files, but very often it told me that it couldn't compress them enough to fit 4.3GB.

I found nero very slow to convert, now I use Winavi, this converts 700mg avi to DVD in about 40 minutes. Even when adding 2 avi files.

If you use Nero Recode, you can add 2 dvd (VOB) movies. This will try to compress it to 4.3gb to fit one disk.
You have to convert both the 700 avi files to VOB first. Then use Nero Recode.
Because it didn't always work, I gave up with Nero & now use winavi.

I found this,
http://www.dvd-guides.com/content/v...

Nero Recode compresses the vob files.

This didn't always work for me, so I got rid of nero.

After you have converted the files to dvd, go to menu, burn to dvd, go to the VIDEO folder & select all vob files.

Before you go to convert, there is an advanced menu you can change the various settings.

have you tried to go to cucusoft and buy there avi/mpeg/divx to dvd software.
its is quite slow going but converts most formats and also allows you to cut down on convresion quality thus fitting on to once single layer disc.
NOTE: when you use the lesser quality your picture sometimes becomes more jerky and blocky.

or you could try and get hold of a copy of DVD santa DOWNLOAD.COM i think will have a copy.
or there are other sites where you can download for free.

In response to

Yes, winavi will do this, but it won't add 2 dvd's (VOB)

Go to convert avi to dvd, browse to the avi file, the click the + & add the other.
Bear in mind, I don't think you will be able to add more than 2 avi files & convert them to VOB & fit on a 4.3GB disk.

Regarding your brothers friend, I suspect he copied 6 avi files of 700MB = 4.2GB
If you convert avi to VOB this makes the size bigger.

In answer to reponse 21, you can burn avi files to a dvd as DATA. But these will not play on a domestic dvd player.

Lets start again, I assume from your original post, that you have 2 avi files & want to make one dvd of 4.3GB

Using winavi,
Go to convert avi to dvd, browse to the avi file, the click the + (plus) & add the other.
Let it do it's thing. This will make an empty AUDIO folder & a VIDEO folder with VOB files.
Using winavi, menu, browse to the VIDEO folder & select ALL of the VOB files, this will then burn to DVD.
If you are still having problems, or still not sure, let me know exactly what you want to do.

If you have found a solution to your original question. I'm glad.

If you are just going to watch the films on your computer, then it will play avi & dvd.

IF, you want to play films on a domestic dvd player. MOST, dvd players will need it to be in a dvd (VOB) format. There are some domestic dvd players that will play avi files.
