my mate has a ava 1505ae graphics card, she has been trying to find out where she can download a driver for this as her display is very bad with only 16 colours. she is on windows me and has 512mb of ram. she does not have the me installation disk as the pc was secondhand.
does anyone know where i can download this please?jarael cameron

It appears that the AVA-1505AE is not a graphics card at all. It's an old Adaptec ISA SCSI controller card:
http://www.adaptec.com/en-US/support/scsi/ISA/AVA-1505AE/

That might be a SCSI harddrive. I dont think that is a graphics card. might want to look under device manager in the display adapter.

ah no wonder i was having trouble lol, well there is no other card and windows display says it has a standard vga graphics, and it has on 16 colours and really blurry, can just about see the screen lol so is there anything i can download for that?

it probably has built in graphics. where does the monitor cable connect at back of computer? if the socket is fixed to the main motherboard then it is on-board/ built in graphics.
Does motherboard have make/model anywhere on it so you can visit motherboard makers website for drivers.
Or you could find a free downlaod called Everest Home Edition which can often tell you make / model of motherboard.
Or we can sometimes tell from looking at the chips on the motherboard (but this requires some knowledge) for example if the motherboard had intel chips on it and had a pentium 3 800mhz it would be almost certain it is Intel 810/815 graphics and the driver is on the Intel website. That's just an example, but if we knew what the CPU is and the make of main chips on mobo it is often possible to make a good guess (but not always)

i have no idea as it is my friends pc, its very old and she got it from a university second hand, so i would have thought it had something better otherwise students wouldnt b able to work on it. ill have to ask her.

this is what she has found out about her pc
this is a statement of may mates pc, she does not have the windows millenuim installation disk. i was wondering if i could get the driver for her standard pci display adapter from my win 98 cd? if not where can i get one from cus her pc has only 16 colours and really blurry pictures.

No problem. The SiS530 chipset is an onboard graphics chipset (& a crappy one at that). Here's the drivers you'll need. The download will start automatically...once you've got it, simply unzip & install:
http://driver.sis.com/graphic/igp/530/530_108.zip

the comment about it would be better than that otherwise students would not be able to work. It would only be a serious issue if the user wanted to play 3d games - which is presumably not what students do for their course work.
I do agree that SIS530 is about the worst on-board graphics around and would be absolutely terrible if anyone wanted to play 3d games on it,

arrrrrgggh she cant get it to work. its downloaded but im not sure she knows how to unzip it and that. she has downloaded winzip but her graphics are still the same.
not sure where to go from here as im not familier with winzip.

Just in case your other post gets deleted for "double posting", here's what I wrote:
The driver file has to be unzipped...it's useless otherwise. I'm not gonna go thru how to do that, you said she have WINZIP, so I assume it's been installed, setup & is ready to go? All she has to do is use it. If she doesn't know how, YOU explain it to her.
Once she has it unzipped, she has to open the 530_108 folder, then open the Win98 folder, then click on SETUP.exe. There are no drivers specifically for WinME...the Win98 drivers *should* work.
