Depends entirely on what connections are available.
Every stereo amplifier I have seen has a line in connection. Every sound card has a line out. Use those.

The speaker connection on your sound card is probably a 'line out' and meant to be connected to powered speakers that have their own amplifier (Some sound cards, especially older ones, had on-board amplifiers meant for non-powered speakers.) So the signal coming out of the sound card will have the same characteristics as the signal coming from a DVD player, phono or whatever, that connect to your stereo amplifier.
Most likely you'll need a patch cable that will convert the single stereo plug coming from the sound card to 2-mono RCA plugs that typically connect to your home stereo. Some place like Radio Shack may carry that cable. Then plug it into an unused jack on your stereo, or temporarily disconnect one of your stereo components and plug the cable in there.
