Just bought a Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS. I have 4.1 speakers at the moment. Here is the problem. When I go into the THX console to setup my speakers, it goes through the Front Right, Front Left, Rear Right, Rear Left.
This is where it gets odd. The Front two speakers work perfectly as they should. Then when it goes Rear Right, all of my speakers get quiet, but all of the speakers broadcast this sound. Same with Rear Left. Any ideas how to fix this properly? Its driving me nuts, I cant seem to find a way for this. In the control panel my speaker settings are set to Quadrophonic speakers. The THX is set to 4.1 speaker settings. Any idea on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated! Thanks all!

"all of my speakers get quiet, but all of the speakers broadcast this sound."
That doesn't make much sense.

Accidentally plugged your sub into the rear speaker output? I think color-coding was invented just so computer audio component manufacturers could ignore it.
"If it ain't broke, upgrade anyway."

No, all my speakers are plugged in correctly.
The idea behind all speakers getting quiet yet still broadcasting sound is this. Lets say it goes through and the system, while checking my speakers, goes through and says "Front Left" then "Front Right." Using total bs numbers, lets say that those sounds come out at a volume level of around 100%. Now, when it goes "Rear Right" "Rear Left" all four of my speakers broadcast this sound. However, they broadcast the sound at say 40% volume in comparison to what the first two channels appeared to sound at. Better explanation?

are you using the digital (SPDIF) output or analogue connectors?
I get a similar problem trying to get 5.1 surround through from the digital out on my SB Live, it's just a limitation of the hardware. Try the analogue outputs instead if you haven't already
