I'm going to start doing some audio recording with my computer. I did a test run a few days ago and the sound was too loud and the file came out a bit distored. I was wondering if anyone know's any good recording software that I can against I guess it would be the Gain so that its not so loud while recording. If anything is unclear please let me know. Thanks.

Did you try lowering the volume in Start All Programs Accessories Entertainment? I keep the Volume Control in my System Tray.

Audacity is good, tho it isn't the easiest to use. I use Analog Recorder, part of the Plus! package from MS. It works really well on my LP's. The cost is fairly low. Behringer makes a USB interface for Phono or Mic, tho you may need a preamp for the turntable. I have one; I'd give it a definite 'Eh!' It's ok, but I still like Analog Recorder better. I'm still looking for a better one that I can use without 6 months of classes.

A positive attitude won't solve all your problems, but it will annoy just enough people to be worth the effort.

I've been using Goldwave Digital Audio Editor for many years now, works great and is real user-friendly. I think they still have a demo version that allows you to record 3 songs at a time so it may be worth a try.

Hopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results....thanks

I tried using Audacity, but I was watching the monitor during recording and it was almost constant red and nothing I could do would lower it. Thats why I was looking for a recording program that can edit the input volume while im recording.

Where is the signal being input? Distortion and over loudness is a symptom of using the microphone input. If you have any preamp stages you should use the line input instead.
