Hi all. My brother has just bought a PC and he is not on the net yet. I downloaded for him zone alarm, lime wire, avg antivirus, spybot and lavasoft. My PC is clean ( an antivirus check was done the night before) and I put all the items on a disc which he then loaded on his.
The problem now is that ALL his audio and DVDs play in real slow mode and the music that he had loaded on there already sound like and I use his words " the matrix".The PC is new and there is hardly anything on it.Any help would be welcome!

JOHN

If you put a copy of XP from your computer to his computer then they would need to be the same. You can't just copy a installed XP install from one computer to another unless at least you have the same motherboard and hardware. Is this what you're saying you did?

I'm assuming that the new PC came with XP loaded and all you did was to transfer over the install files for the "protective" programs you mentioned. If so try this:

While playing a CD with "slow sound", use Task Manager to check the processes and performance tabs. Look for CPU and memory hogs. This may point you to programs you may want to reconsider running.

Consider cutting back on the protection. I use AVG, Spybot and SpySweeper. They keep my system clean easily.

Try using (free) FreeRam XP Pro to keep an eye on your memory and CPU usage. Nice minimized display in your system tray.
