Hello:
This being my first post on this forum, I will explain this problem as accurately as I can.
In Device Manager under Other-> ?Multimedia audio Controller, there is this yellow question mark and its property listing is showing Code 28.
I am able to get sounds, but the error condition will not go away. Attempts at trying to install the drivers for this hardware has been a complete failure. What are the options to corect this condition?
Thanks in advance for any help in this matter.
COMPUTER DETAILS:
SOUND CARD: C-Media CMI8738/C3DX Audio Device PCI
MOTHERBOARD: WinFast 760GXK8MC
OS: Windows 2000 Pro
RAM/CPU: 768MB DDR 2700/AMD 64Regards,

Are you using a PCI soundcard rather than the onboard sound? The onboard is listed as "ADI AD1888; 5.1 channel audio" & IMO, it's much better than "C-Media CMI8738/C3DX Audio".
If you are using a PCI soundcard, did you disable the onboard sound in the BIOS? The drivers for the onboard can be found here:

Thanks, jam:
Please note that this PCI card was purchased separately. This is so because of the inability of WinNT 40 to use sound drivers from this WinFast/Foxconn motherboard.
System requirement starts at Win98 Second Edition up to XP.
If there is no solution in getting these drivers to work, I will be moving up to another, more expensive sound card.
Again, thanks for the tip.

Hello, jam:
listen up!!
Disabling the Sound in the BIOS never dawned on me until you asked the question, of which I had overlooked.
After giving your question my undivided attention, I was prompted to get into the BIOS and see what was Enabled and Disabled.
SiS OnChip PCI Device was Enabled! Disabling this device and rebooting, and going into the Device Manager, this yellow question mark had disappeared completedy. There are no error message, NO CODE 28 ERRORS!
Thanks, thanks, again for this important tip!
