Comment:

I want to know which colored wires go to which pins when it come to audio cables.
Cd-rom players seem to always conform to a strict standard in regard to their audio output plug (black type). However, sound cards’ (and onboard sound) pin-outs are one of two types, the “small” black type connector, or the “mini” white type connector. Both types have four pins, yet connectors usually only have only three wires, red, white, and black. Often, I have found that even with the appropriate connector type sound will not function. With a little experimenting, I found that if either a “white” or a “red” wire is put to either of the two center pins, sound comes. (that’s right, just one wire will do it)
However, the sound is rather low in volume, and cannot be increased or decreased. Obviously, this is not the answer. So, what I want to know is which colored wires go to which pins when it come to audio cables. Or, simply the low down on audio connection.

Thanks a million!

It will be denoted which is which in either the mobo manual or on the board itself.
You will have to look closely at the board.
Generally the two in the middle are common.
The first one is right and the last on is left.

Hope this helps.

If the audio cable connector on the sound card end does not fit the connector on the sound card, get a universal audio cable that has many connectors on each end - if the connector fits, it will be wired right - you can't go wrong.

Most CD-ROM drivers will say "RGGL" right above the analog audio connector, simply make sure the red is on the R..

On the soundcard, if it has a black connector similar to the cdrom, simply match it up...

|RGGL|
------

If the soundcard only has 4 pins and no black casing thing to snap into, it will usually have a dot, or arrow, or "1" next to the R pin, use that one for red.

Also usually the 4 pins are on the edge of the card, when you connect the cable, make sure the smooth/flat side of the connector is facing you, and the opposite side where you see the metallic connectors are facing away from you.. Its hard to explain so maybe the horribly drawn mspaint image ive attached will help =P
