Is Radeon X800 the new PCI Video Card???
I heard from my friend that there're PCI video cards are comming out and it's gonna dominate AGP video cards cause PCI's lot faster than AGP.
I wast sure that his statement was right or not but i just checked out ATI, wondering if they're working on PCI video cards, and i saw new video card the Radeon X800. X800 may not be one of those PCI vide cards but i saw new on ATI's web page about their future graphics card that talks about PCI video cards. which you can find here.
If anyone knows about PCI cards what are some pros and cons about PCI video cards?

ASUS A7N8X
AthlonXP 2500+
512MB DDR PC2700
Gigabyte Radeon9200 128MB
Creative Labs SB Live! 5.1
Windows XP Professional

PCI video cards are NOT! faster than AGP video cards, and is not the same thing as the PCI-Express that replaces AGP8X.

The x800 is not a pci card its a pci-express card. pci-express initially will be equal to agp8x in bandwidth, so there is no difference there. Not that it matters since agp4x is about the same as agp8x anyway if you have 128mb vid card memory or more. But pci-express has two uni-direction physical paths for data, whereas agp has just one bi-directional path which is shared each way.

We tend to think we need more of everything as computers progress but agp is different. When we went from agp2x to agp4x we were doubling the speed of a heavily-trafficked path, since the agp bus was used for overflow video data that could not be housed in 16MB and 32MB vid cards. When we went from agp4x to agp8x we were doubling the speed of a not-heavily-trafficked path, since vid card memory rarely overflows any more. The importance of the agp bus has decreased to some degree.

Regaurdless... Now maybe PCI express is better than just PCI.. Well thats just DANDY! But AGP slots are designed for specifically Video Cards.... Thats why their called ACCELERATED Graphics Port. ....... Thats just how it is. But other then that, If I'm not mistaken... ATI's newest Cards are PCI Express. This Friend of yours was saying that ATI's new Cards that are PCI Express.. Will dominate all the AGP Cards... And dont get me wrong, he is quite right. But he did not imply that PCI is better than AGP. What he meant was, since the Radeon X800 is so Good, that it really doesnt matter what slot it uses.
