I have some problem with my comp. It is keep crashing. I have no clue about why it is doing that but it looks like my graphic card or HDD is the cause of it. Before it crashes, my HDD makes clicking noises. Also, sometimes when i get the error report, or whatever it is called, i says that there was a problem with my Graphic Card. I am currently using ATI Radeon 9600 Pro, 128Mb and i just got the driver updated. My dad suggested me to get a new hdd and see if it still crashes. Even though i am going to try that i want to hear some advices from Pros :). Thanx in advance.

Clicking from a hard drive `usually' means that it's dying. However, I have heard of it being caused by power supplies that are not of a high enough wattage for the system.

Run a hard drive diagnostic test, you can get one from the hard drive manufacturer's site.

hmmm maybe your right. We have 2 computers and priter, scanner etc and since all these stuffs are stacked in the corner of our living room. We had to use 2 millioin multi-plug adapters. Maybe that is the reason.

I don't think my HDD is dying though. It is making those clicking noises right before my computer crashes.

Thank you for the advice. I'll try that.

P.S. My powersupply pumps out up to 350watts and since there is no other appliance, such as printer or scanner, are attached to it, i don't think my powersupply is the cause of it.

350 watt power supplies seems to be on the low end requirement nowadays..just by going to 400 or higher may just solve that problem...BUT, since you tell us of the clicking noises from the hard drive before it crashes, that usually means one thing...eventual hard drive failure and possible 100% loss of any data on it...a friend's computer was making those sounds and i was not able to retrieve anything from it

Take good note of the posts above !!!

Sounds very much more like the drive than the PSU.

I also agree with the others. It does sound like you hd but you said that this happened after you updated your driver for your video card, have your tried to uninstall the new driver and reinstall the old one? Just a thought, though, because I still agree with the others about your hd
