Subject: ATI Radeon 7500 or 9200?

OK, Im in a bit of a situation. I have an ATI Radeon 9200 SE in my every-day-use computer. I just got a new Compaq Evo D500 that has an ATI Radeon 7500 All-In-Wonder 64Mb video card. If anyone knows, which has better performance? Im thinking, which would be the best to keep? I would believe the 7500 would handle PC Games better. I also think it would be better to keep the 7500 and rid myself of the 9200 SE because the 7500 is also a PVR. I have Windows XP Media Center Edition, so then I could sell my ATI Radeon 9200 SE AND my Hauppauge PVR 250 OEM card. Would this be wise? Would I get better TV capture quality with my hauppauge or the ATI 7500? Any help would be appreciated!

Also, does anyone know if there are compatibility issues with this ATI card and Halo PC?

The 9200 is definately a faster performing card. However the AIW 7500 does have the advantage of the gemstar TV program. If you don't have the disk for the 7500AIW you won't be able to use this feature. I don't know much about the Hauppauge PVR 250 OEM card. That brand has a good reputation. I use an ATI 7500AIW for TV capture and am pleased with the quality and convience of the ATI software. Just one question, is that 7500AIW a AGP or PCI card? If PCI then you could use both the 9200 and the 7500AIW.

Yes, after enough testing, the 9200 is slightly better, not that much better but overall it is. I have the SE so that is why its not a huge difference when playing PC games. No I dont have the original CD, so Gamestar TV or whatever wouldnt do me any good...What is this program anyways? Is there any other place I could get it to see if I would want it for any reason? Thank you for the help

Gemstar is the TV guide equivelent that is supplied with all AIW cards. You can't download it though. How it works is you install it, set it up, make a weekly download of the TV listings, and then you can set it to record programs all week, as long as you have disk space. If you know someone else that has an ATI AIW card, copy it from them. You are authorized to use this software. Did you get the card used? Do you have the remote control? That card came with both.
