I recently got an ATI Radeon 7000 card off Ebay; the card was advertised as a 32MB DDR card but I strongly suspect it is a standard SDR card. The problem is there is no identification at all either on the box or in the install guide or the card itself as to what this thing is. The box just says 32MB onboard memory. I did a google search on the memory chips (hynix hy57v641620hg) and there is little documentation out there but what there is SEEMS to identify it as SDR. Can't call ATI because they don't offer free tech support for "powered-by ATI" cards (another thing the seller failed to mention, he advertised it as an ATI card with ATI warrentee, no mention of the "powered-by".) Is there is a program I can run that will identify the memory type? Thanks.

There are Radeon 7000 cards that are either SDR or DDR, they can be the exact same model. Also ATI's website has both types listed for the Radeon 7000, both SDR and DDR. You can't tell which one yours is just by looking at the website.
I've never seen such piss-poor documentation and support as I've seen with ATI. It's unbelievable it should be this hard to figure out which freakin type of card one has.

Click on "select your product".

Most of thier drivers are the same with one or two exceptions. I have a builtby ATI radeon 7000 and it has 64 mb ddr. Unless it is an old card I would say it probably is ddr.Mine was 79$ brand new

In your control panel, go to DISPLAY PROPERTIES. Once there you should find a few extra tabs. ATI (even the Powered by ATI) always includes some hardware tests that you can run. these tests will tell you if it is SDR or DDR.
Good luck

John
Just wondering what it says if you go to Device Manager and look at your Display adapters. Choose properties for the Radeon and Details (Tab). If that doesn't help. At least you should have more information to help you find out. Good luck
