I am thinking of getting a good video card thats offers performance and its not soo expensive(Geforce Ti4600,4200...).
I am thinking of the Ti500 or the Radeon 9000 Pro, now, i can get the Radeon 128mb for the same price as the Ti500(64mb).What do u guys recommend???

I use Nvidia personally. I have two different cards on two different pc's and I have had no problems with either. Actually, I am quite satisfied with their performance. I can't comment on the Radeon though. Also what ever card you get, just make sure the drivers are up to date, I see you have XP (1 of my machines is XP).

Hope this helps..

I have the Radeon 9000PRO 64 meg.

I read loads of reviews before purchasing, and a lot of them seemed to point out that the difference in performance between the 64 meg and 128 meg versions of most graphics cards led to little or no performance increase whatsoever. So, don't be fooled into thinking the 128 meg version is worth $50 more, because it isn't according to sites like tomshardware.com (probably the biggest, most respected benchmarking site on the net).

If I had the choice of a Geforce 4 Ti4200 or my Radeon, I would take the Geforce 4. That said, I wouldn't upgrade to a Geforce 4 now; it would be a waste as the difference is not that much to warrant spending $150.

By a Geforce 3Ti500, Ti 4200, 4400, 4600 or ATI Radeon 9000PRO and you will be happy. Just don't get a Geforce MX card. They are budget cards with budget performance.

I just bought a Geforce 4 128 MX card and it just crashed my system. Could it be my power supply (ie. 300W)? Can anyone help?

Cheers....

Nvidia is by far the leader of video cards. They always have been and they always will be. I would always get an Nvidia based card. If you cant get a Ti 4*** card then get a geforce 3 Ti. Avoid MX no matter what if you game. They are worthless but if you just need something to run your cpu then go for it they are cheap.

Good luck

ok...michael....here we go...heh...one breath...*inhales*...the first thing to take into account is what your gonna use it for...if its mainly office apps, internet, etc...you can get by on even integrated mainboard video, like intels or sis or something. If your going to game or use high end 3D graphics...then go nVidia. MX technology can be best analogized as getting a 4-cylinder vehicle instead of a 6. ATI is straight up poop for gaming or high end 3D except for the 9500 and 9700, and even those have slight driver issues. and thats that in a nutshell...*gasps for air* done!

Zia - higher end video cards take more power. My computer has a temp/power monitoring program, and I noticed after I installed my Ti 4400, that some of the values are lower than what they should be reading (they were normal when I was still using my GF2 MX card). I already ordered a new Power Supply, and I'll see if that returns everything back to normal.

Yes watch your psu if you are not in the 300 range etc. They do need more power but not a huge amount.

You people are all stupid sure NVidea is good, im not not saying that they cant run high end graphics but i have a ATI Radeon 8500 LE 128MB card and its great, ive had no problems. That with my P4 2.2 Ghz CPU its the perfect comp. ATIs work geat as long as you dont run an athlon, the two just dont seem to mix well. NVidea will gave the same performance as certain ATIs but cost a s--- load more!

GO ATI!

Of course i'll take an ATI Card. Why should i buy a NVIDIA Card without DX9???
I'll buy the 9500 Pro or the 9700(Pro).
They are more fast than ANY Nvidia-Card, have better image quality and are good for the futur. I do not want to wait for the FX (Geforce 5) to relase as it will be very expensive ( 600 Euro/Dollar) and very instabile.
So. My opinion
