Hello, i am going to buy a new videocard at the moment i have a leadtek geforce4 ti4200 128mb but i am thinking of the future like doom 3 ect im trying to decide between the ti4600 or the 9700 Pro can anyone help me? thanks in advance.

I would hold out until they come out with the 256mb video cards. What you have is pretty close to the top of the line so there wouldnt be any noticeable differance in preformance.

Do you mean the Nvidia fx card?. i hear there going to be around over $400 american and im in Australia and we usually get them sorts of things alot later and they will be hard to find. But if there going to be worth the wait i could, i just thought if i get either the radeon 9700 Pro or the gf4 ti4600 it would last a fair while and when it gets oudated i could get the fx card which by that time should of came down in price.

I think both are a waste of money. The Ti4600 is totally wasted by the Radeon 9700 Pro, but the 9700 is damn expensive. If you can, grab the Radeon 9500 Pro. The Ti4600 beats it by very little, but the 9500 is much cheaper. It's been out for a month at my location, and it's out of stock everywhere.

Well they already have the 256mb cards but there madd expensive like this 1. http://www.myinfinity.com/mmamazing/Images/VIDMATPAR256MBB.JPG
but i would say go with the 9700pro over the TI4600 pro

If you are buying now its not even close.
The 9700 pro is by far the better card. Great card at a horrid price.

I think it would be a waste of money....
your near the top of the line... and the games are still way behind... by time the new fx cards come out.... you still up there at the top and... and still able to keep up...
I would wait...till the fx cards got cheaper....and your card would still be great...

At the end of the day you get what you pay for. THE RADEON 9700 PRO IS A BEAST! It wipes the floor with the ti4600, just look at any 3DMark scores between the two cards and you'll get the picture.
If money is no problem then I'd wait to see if nVidia's FX chip lives up to it's promises (Should out perform the Radeon considerably). It should be out on the shelves with any driver problems ironed out by the time Doom 3 (final) is out.
