Hello
I was just wondering if a ATI radeon 9000 pro would be better than a mx440 or 460.
Also which ones are better in vaule and performace. A friend told me that a MX440 would be cheaper than a 9000 pro and that also it had practically the same benchmarks and performance ad a 9000 pro. Also he said that ATI 9000 pro had compatibility issues with Windows XP and the dirvers were bad. He said that a Nvidia Driver would would better than a ATI one. Is this true that there are problems with the 9000 pro.

I would certainly recommend ati 9000 over MX, nvidia's mx card sucks big time. However, your friend is right, MX is much cheaper than 9000 Pro but function-wise, 9000 Pro is better than MX. Don't get MX if you are a hardcore gamer. If you are a bit short on cash, maybe consider getting the 8500 cards. If you wnat good Nvidia, get the nvidia geforce 4 ti. Don't get MX.
Your friend is right, nvidia driver tends to be better and less hassle.

I think if u're gonna buy a up scale kind of card, u should think about maxing out ur budget for every penny. A programmable card is not a bad investment now. Anything above and including the 8500 series is programable, and to tell u what that means I will use a quote a nerdly freind of mine said, "With a programmable video card, unreal tournament 2003 will look, like real". There's a big difference between the 8500 and 9000, and even though the 9700 is an arm and a leg, u probably won't need a new card for a good 3 years. 256 bit vid cards will last, in my oppinion. And any time u see MX on a video card, don't touch it. It's a budget card, budget!!! MX geforce 4=regular geforce 2, not kidding.
