I have a computer running at 1050 mhz. It's an athlon. I'm almost certain it's supposed to run at 1.4ghz. It seems that the FSB is at 100mhz instead of 133. I tried changing that in the BIOS, but the only way I can put it up to 133 is by O/Cing and I don't want to risk dmging my PCI cards. I tried updating the bios and it still won't let me take the FSB from 100-133. Is it possible that it's a 1400+ that runs at 1050 with a 100mhz FSB?

What is the model of your motherboard? It is possible that it is not capable of running a 133 Mhz FSB although it would have to be pretty old not to - pre-DDR even.
Stuart

I seem to recall you asking this before? You have an Athlon XP 1600+. It runs at 1400MHz (10.5 x 133MHz). If 133MHz FSB is an option, use it. If it's an overclock setting, the PCI bus would run at 44.44MHz & your system would most likely crash. That's WAY too far outta spec for the system to run stably. There is the possibility of a jumper setting that has to be changed. Post the board make/model.
Hellz Yea!

to double check what CPU you have, run CPUZ...see what it lists for Processor name & Code

Hellz Yea!

Did you read the manual though? What did that say about maximum FSB?
To repeat the question that has been asked twice before: what's the motherboard model number.
You may think the model number of the motherboard irrelevant but there are some very clever people around here. So clever in fact that they can find almost anything on the Internet using Goggle providing they are given enough base information.
Stuart

Wow, thats clever. I never would've thought of using google. I did think of reading the user manual for the board and finding out that, yeah, it does run 133mhz fsb. I DIDN"T EVEN HAVE TO USE GOOGLE. Which I guess makes me even more clever than you! The board is a K7T 266pro MSI. The chip I'm not sure about but I'll check next time I can. I don't put extrenous information, and important information that I have I put up. I don't know much about the chip cause I didn't think to look at it. I'm sure tho it runs at 1.4ghz instead of 1.05ghz. So if u're so clever stuartS, how about u help me instead of failing at being clever?

>> I don't put extraneous information, and important information that I have I put up. <<
When you are asking for help with a problem with a motherboard, the motherboard type number is not extraneous, it's vital. Otherwise any answers would be guesses.
If two people ask you the same question, common sense should tell you that there might be a very good reason for it.
If you have the manual and you know the motherboard does 133 MHz, then the sensible thing to do is to read it. It will tell you how to set it for 133 MHz.
Stuart

I did. It says simply change the FSB to 133 from 100. I can't. The user's manual doesn't say anything else on the topic.
See unlike u I actually read things I have access to that are relevant. I don't just download the user's manual and like... let it sit there.
