hello. its an hp 6735 with a Phoenix BIOS. I replaced the cd drive and turned the computer on and it comes to the HP splash screen and wont stop beeping, haults right there. so i am forced to turn the thing off. cant get into windows or anything. tryed a new stick of ram in there, still nothin. tryed it without the cd drive and still. i cant imagine that anything is broken, didnt touch anything. perhaps a static shock or something? but it wouldnt get this far then would it? idk. anyone have any ideas? hope it isnt gonna cost me much. thanks

Without looking up which bios your computer uses, the most common cause of constant beeping is ram. Whilst you have already tried another stick, have you ensured that the existing ram is firmly seated?

You may need to reset the jumpers on the CD drive. If the original CD drive was on a cable with another drive of some kind then removing it or jumpering wrong can cause problems.
