Looking to change out current ASUS M/B but can't get a reply from ASUS or Compaq about the form factor of the original M/B. The original is in a Compaq S4210NX system but it has no AGP slot. Would like to get a board with an 8x slot if possible but can't find the correct form factor.

your problem is you bought a compaq. they generally don't use any standardized form factor when they build their computers, company policy or something. they probably can't tell you the form factor because it doesn't conform to any standard.
unless you can figure out what kind of board will work, I'd say your best bet is to buy a new case, and a board that fits in it and transfer all the other hardware to your new box. you'll most likely void the warranty doing this but that would've happended anyway changing the motherboard.
