Comment:

I just bought a Asus P4B533. I installed a P4-2.53 and all my other hardware. I've been using it for a week and I love it. There is one little problem. My only harddrive is recognized as a primary slave instead of a primary master. This drive is the only drive on the primary side.
My jumper is set at cable select. If I change the jumper to master the board doesn't recognize it at all and won't get past the power on self-test.
I tried a number of things including upgrading the bios and changing the primary cable.
Does antone else have this board that is having this trouble?
Any help would be appreciated.

Try this

primairy IDE (0)

master HDD
slave CDROM

Secundairy IDE (1)

burner or second HDD on master
burner on slave (if second HHD is on master available)

You could also first try the HDD on MAster on Primaster IDE ==> without other CDplayers and so

Thanks Prima Donna for your quick responce,
I got it fixed. I just had forgotten that the Western Digital drives have a weird jumper setting when using it as a single drive on one channel.
