Hello All,

I own a ASUS K52JR-X5 laptop, and sometimes the screen flickers or freezes and fades away. When it flickers, horizontal lines of gray flash over the screen. In order for it to display correctly, I have to hit the screen lightly which can't be good for the computer.

I found one other person who had a similar problem, but since it happens sporadically, Asus technical help said nothing was wrong. He ended up giving up on the computer.

I figure it's something wrong with the connection , and I am tempted to open it up to see if there are any loose connections, but seeing that I haven't openned up a laptop before, I figure I'd ask for your opinions before I do that.

Thank you.

If it flickers, then most likely it can be a loose connection either at the LCD inverter or at the connection to the motherboard.

You'd have to open it up to check it out. Here is a video on how to do it:

Reseat all the both connections to the LCD inverter board just below the screen and the connection to the motherboard under the keyboard.

If reseating doesn't work, then most likely you need to replace your LCD screen.
