Asus P5K & Firewire

Comment:
Does the P5K have Firewire built in; and if not, if there anything in the P5K family which does; or will I have to buy a FW card? This is for audio recording, which will use a FW Focusrite Saffire interface.
All you had to do was check the Asus website. Yes, the P5K has firewire - "VIA VT6308P controller supports 2 x 1394a ports (one at midboard; one at back panel)"
"And that's the fishing line, because Sharkboy said so!"

Thank you for both the information and the scolding. I 'had' checked the Asus site and did not understand the terminology, which is why I asked in more prosaic terms.

Firewire is an Apple term. The controller is a 1394. FYI there are two speeds of firewire. 400 and 800. I don't know if any PC boards have the 800 integrated or not.
