Hey Ya'll,
I've been trying to find out which of the 2 mb's are the better.I've searched here and a couple other forum's and Googled. It seems most people are using the p4p800dlx not the p4p800-E dlx.
I am upgrading my Intel machine I just got a P4 2.4C and 2x256mb geil pc4000 from newegg.com this ram comes in a plexiglass case and is very heavy,I guess it's the ramsinks that weigh alot.Anyway's I was looking at the reviews on the 2 boards in question and theres only 1 review for the p4p800-E dlx and 184 reviews for the other one.
I know that the E board is the newer revision but is there a reason why no one is buying the E mb? Anybody here using the newer p4p800-E dlx or the other?
Here's were I was looking it's at the lower part of the page.
Thanks,macdaddy

Forgot to post the website sorry:

Well, they are of equal quality, so it comes down to features. To start with the link you posted has a some of the specs reversed. You should look a the asus site for the correct specs. The main differences that I see is one uses the 865PE chipset and and non ECC ram and the other uses the 875P chipset and can use either ECC or non ECC ram. Personally, I only use ECC ram so I'd recommend the P4C800-E Deluxe. (Note the model number; as far as I can tell from the asus site, there is no P4P800-E Deluxe).
Would you consider using AMD chip? If so, you may want to look at the K8V Deluxe board. According the the reviews that I've read, the AMD64 processor out performs the Intel P4. Here's the asus board that I'm planning on using.

>I've read, the AMD64 processor out performs the Intel P4
dont be fooled by VIA crap!
I've never heard that someone who ones used Pentium would ever consider switch to AMD ...but have heard opposite...
besides, is there any program/games that whould adopted specific for AMD and not Pentium? ;)

Okay, it's late. I don't know where that 2 came from. Should have been..p4c800e. But, you knew that.

There is an actual p4P800-e out there not just the p4C800-e. It is a new version of the p4p800 dlx but it has the Asus wi-fi slot. So you weren't mistaken buy a lable. most people don't have it since it's fairly new and I also saw it with the one review, the p4c800-e has 79 reviews.
Anyway it just has a wi-fi slot on it that makes it different, and some of the small problems with the p4p800 dlx were corrected thats all.

As far as looking at the WEBSITE for information, the differences I can see are:
* P4P800 -E Deluxe has 8 channel audio as opposed to 6 channel on the P4P800 Deluxe.
* P4P800 -E Deluxe has similarly spec'd but differently branded ethernet.
*P4P800 -E Deluxe has promise 20378 additional RAID controller as opposed to VIA 6410 additional RAID controller on the P4P800 Deluxe. It appears that the promise might be able to do RAID 1 on it's sata drives whereas I can't see the VIA stating that it takes SATA. This is a bit ambiguous though. If true though, I think it's a pretty important point for some because I don't think the default ICH5-R controller on either can do SATA in RAID 1 configuration.
