Ok heres the thing, I am always lazy when it comes to doing BIOS updates if the machine is running fine.
I am running:
Asus K8N-E Deluxe mobo
AMD-Athlon64-3000+ processor
WD740GD Raptor(WD 74Gig SATA) - System Drive, 1 Partition w/ Windows, programs, profile(other than my documents) and the paging file.
WD2500SD (WD 250Gig SATA) - 2 Partitions split in half for Apps(installers) and ISOs.
WD2000JB (WD 200Gig IDE) - 3 Partitions split in thirds, for Documents, Music, and Temp(Inet temp, windows temp, and user temp).
ATi Radeon 9600XT 128mb AGP8X
SB Audigy 2 Plainum Pro ZS
WinXP64 Beta Build 1218(latest)Running all the latest Beta drivers from SoundBlaster and nVidia; using the windows driver for my video card.
The problem is that I have not updated my BIOS since I got the board. This afternoon I downloaded the BIOS update 1006, upgrading from 1001. I installed it, flash said it went fine, rebooted, had to redo the BIOS config, once I did that, I continued to try and boot windows. Keyword was try. It would blue-screen with the stop error 0x0000001E no specific file I think, it would reboot to fast for me to see(damn fast machines). So I said, ok, maybe this XP install doesn't like this one. I went to load setup, and where it tries to start Windows (load the kernel) it would blue screen with the same 0x0000001E stop error. So I went through the BIOS making sure everything was configured right. It was as to what I could see. So I downgraded to 1005 to see if that one would work - nothing, so I skipped and went all the way to just 1002 and still same error. I went back to 1001, and it works fine.-Does anyone know of a solution or another place u have seen this discussed?

If ther eis one ore more bios updates from the current version in most cases you must load each update individualy.
eg 1001, 1002, 1003 and so on.
Some times the bios updates can be so big or dramatic that you will need to reinstall the OS.
I have come across this problem before, a pin in the u know what.
Best thing to do is when building a rig, always install all updates in order prior to loading the OS.
Sometimes you may also need to load the fail safe deafults before installing the latest bios updates, refer to the user manual for the procedure.
Hope thats some help to you.
regards
IF IT AINT BROKE, DONT FIX IT
