Hello everyone,
My computer locked up on me earlier today, and upon restarting I am greeted with a lovely bit of text:
Award BootBlock BIOS v1.0
BIOS ROM checksum errorThen it goes into the sequence of booting from devices. I have my motherboard utility CD that has Crashfree BIOS 2 on it, and when I put it in one of my CD roms it does boot from it, but unfortunately it never does anything.
It brings up a screen titled "AwardBIOS Flash Utility for ASUS V1.08".
Inside the window it reads:
Flash Type -
File Name to Program: A8NSLI-B.BINtry to Boot from it ... Pass
Then at the bottom, it says:
Message: Please Wait !
The "Please Wait" portion just continues to flash on and off for the length of time the computer is on, and it never actually does anything.
So, to that end...any ideas on what I should do?
Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

check to see if there is any jumpers on your motherboard that will enable the crashfree option. if there is no jumpers, then you might have to request an rma from asus to send the board back.

The only jumpers on the board are the CLRTC jumpers, and I cleared the CMOS as one of my first lines of defense.

Would love any solutions not involving RMA...having the same issue with an M2N-E SLI model.
Has anyone had success with CrashFree? I reset CMOS and got the Award screen with checksum error. Hit F1 to continue. Few seconds of black screen with blinking cursor, then showed "rebuilding BIOS), then looked like Vista was *about* to load, then went to dead screen. Also no HDD or DVDROM lights on PC.
Rebooted; now, screen is dead (no signal) but HDD and DVDROM appear to be working, albeit very slowly.
