Hi,
I just switched to an ASUS A8V Mobo after my MSI K8N Neo2 bit the dust.
after switching the mother board, i am unable to get into windows, or suse linux. grub comes up and askes me to select the operating system i want, but when i pick, it goes no where, suse tells em i have a kernel panic, and windows just restarts the system.
any way, i want to format and just start fresh. my problem is this: when i put int he windows XP instal CD, it tells me that it cant detect any drives, adn that i shoudl make sure that they are powered on/ connected.
i tried to used the SATA drivers on the CD that came with the mobo durrign the windows install, and it was still unable to see anything.
now, had i not been able to load grub, i would think that my HD was just fried, but it is obviously getting accessed.
also, i formated my drive before using the windows CD when i was set up to Dual boot between Win XP/Gentoo Linux.
any ideas on what i can try?
SPEC:
ASUS A8V MOBO
AMD 64 4000+ CLAWHAMMER
CORSAIR 1GIG MEMORY
CHAINTECH GEFORCE 5500FX
HD1 - 120G
HD2 - 320G
CD-RW/DVD
DVD-R

Try putting the drivers onto a floppy disk and installing windows again. Or, if you havent already formatted try running a repair installation on XP.
