Please help, I have recently upgraded mu CPU from AMD 2600+ to 3200+ to get runiing at 400 FSB. config is as follows

Asus A7NxX Deluxe V2.00
Bios V1008
AMD Athlon XP 3200+ (400Mhz supported)
2 x Integral 512K DDR slots 1&3
GeForce 4MX440SE
1 x Maxtor 80Gb HDD
1 x Maxtor 120Gb HDD (non sata)
Enermax EG651P-VE 230V PSU

When I try re-setting the system to

CPU Speed 200
Multiplier 11.0
Memory Speed (by SPD)

I get a host of blue screens as windows setup attempts to load windows. it works fine when i clock the bios down to 333Mhz. The setup was never really stable when gaming with the previous setup. any ideas?

Hi,

Are you using PC3200 Ram or PC2700? If you are using 2700, that would explain the BSOD's.

Hi, Thanks for the help. The memory is 2 x Integral PC3200(400)512Mb sticks. non ECC according to Sandra. I have taken one out at a time and replaced indifferent slots until all options were covered but it makes no difference.

i have A7V8X which i know is not the same (VIA instead of Nforce chipset). In the manual it says it will only work at 400mhz if you only have ONE stick of Ram (and max of two for 333mhz, and use all three below that).
It does not say why but it makes it clear in more than one place that you can only use one ram slot if you run at 400.
Does this apply to A7N8x?. I know you mention you have swapped ram around but not clear if you tried one stick on its own.

yeah, i tried both sticks independently in all three slots, same type of problem each time, irql errors, pool errors and just non descript errors too.
