Ive bought an Asus A7N8X Deluxe that has an onboard nForce2 APU but in XP I cant find the soundcard however the realtek codec thingy installs fine. The card is set to Auto in BIOS (could choose between auto and disabled)

You may have installed the incorrect driver. Do you have a small icon in your system tray displaying the sound icon with the nVidia logo over it? Also, go into the Device manager and see if you have any problems such as conflicts with the soundcard.

You could always just uninstall the driver in question, and then go to Nvidia's site and download thier nforce drivers. I know it works, because Im running the same board, using what I got from thier site.
