Has anyone here used a PCI router card? I got mine from geeks.com and I can't seem to get the thing working in XP. It seems to be missing the driver for ethernet controller in the device manager. Any suggestions on how to get this thing working?

Are you sure its a router card and not an Ethernet card that plugs into a router.

There is no purpose for an internal router card. If it is an Ethernet card which is most likely, you need to find out exactly which model it is and search the Internet for the correct drivers.

the driver should be on the software CD that came with it. Since it's the only one they sell, I am assuming you bought this one ----> http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=A-3500&cpc=SCH&srm=0

That is a generic card, no brand name, which also means no support. generic computer components often have issues like missing drivers, and it is very difficult to find them.

Are you sure the "missing ethernet driver" is for that router card and not for an actual ethernet card or built in ethernet port on your motherboard??

In device manager, right mouse click the yellow question mark and choose "update driver", then see if windows update can install a suitable driver for it.

If that doesn't work, then return that thing and buy an external router and plug it into an ethernet card/port (chances are your mobo has an ethernet port built onto it or your PC has an ethernet card plugged in already. if it doesn't, they only cost about $5)

It says not to put a question here... why not?

The onboard gigabyte ethernet installed fine. I checked my device manager, and it is missing the ethernet controller. It had no missing drivers until I installed this card. The drivers that came on the CD do not appear to work. XP will not load them as drivers.
It is a PCI router card as King Cody pointed out not an ethernet card. I have emailed geeks.com to see if they have had any luck getting it to work, I was just wondering if anyone on computing.net has any experience with these cards.

the router card is going into a LAN party based PC so I could hook up other computers to it for gaming purposes.

I found out the router card was made by Asound (a-3500) and I emailed the main office in Taiwan and they sent me the drivers. :)
