Please note that for the desktop it says: Device Drivers not included (Drivers may be difficult to find)

Is that a big problem?

"Device Drivers not included (Drivers may be difficult to find)"

I interpret that as saying 'We couldn't find them, and the odds are that you can't either'.

aegis may be correct.

Maybe yes and maybe no. Most likely it will work. You do know it is a media computer that has a fair video onboard.

I have never heard of a de-branded product. The price is in line. Might be a good product unless it is really a used computer.

Most home based computers will allow add on cards such as video. I suspect this one will. Some server systems are real stinkers about add on video.

If the origial HP number is on it you will should be able to get any drivers from HP. If not, most of the things will be supported. Might have to run dual boot os if you want the tv functions to work.

"Best Practices", Event viewer, host file, perfmon, antivirus, anti-spyware, Live CD's, backups, are in my top 10

That particular 8600GT is NOT a good card. Notice that it uses DDR2 memory. Decent gaming cards use GDDR3, GDDR4 or GDDR5.

Another possible issue is the power supply in that "debranded" HP system. Rather than an 8600GT, I suggest you consider a Radeon HD 4670. Not only does it perform much better than the 8600GT, but it has such a low power consumption that it doesn't require the additional 6-pin PCIe connector from the power supply.

As for the drivers, I don't see why it would be a problem as long as you plan on installing Vista...XP drivers *may* be difficult to find though. All you have to do is determine what the HP model number is (or was) & find the drivers at the HP site. My guess is it's a Pavilion m8300f:

I was planning on getting XP because of the lower demands on the system. Do you think Vista would be better? Because I could go check if I have mine from a while back...

I'll check out the 4670
Are you sure that it is compatible with that desktop?

I don't like Vista myself, but it appears that this system originally came with it & if you checked the link I supplied, HP does NOT offer XP drivers for it. That means XP drivers will be hard to find. Do your homework/research ahead of time.

It might have had an OEM version of media center. This might be the driver issue.
