A well written application on a fully smp system would tend to be faster that it's 2.3ghz speed on single but in real world tests it tends to be about 3.3 ghz equivalent single core speed. A rare instance might bring a singe core speed test almost 4.6 speed single core. |
The true dual cores help in some cases to process multiple tasks a bit better. Things like a network transfer and a photoshop application may work much better to the user on a dual or tri, quad or hex core.
