AOpen modem vs. USR

The Aopen 56k. modem is about half the price of the USR. The shops tell me that the USR is the only one to buy. Has anyone any opinions on the Aopen?? Thanks for any feedback. d
As Kerry stated, knowing the modem models would help and when it comes to a hardware versus a software modem, there is nothing to compare. Software modems are cheap and nothing but junk. Yes, a hardware modem cost a lot more but they do for a reason. I just have a personal hate for software modems, gives me chills just talking about them.

I despise software modems as well. Why waste CPU cycles to power your software modem? If you're running a 450 MHz machine w/ 128 MB of RAM, I'd definitely spend a few extra bucks on a hardware modem. (You also may consider adding more RAM)
