Specs: Windows XP

Funny thing huppens,
My aol program stoped working, unistalled it, downloaded again 9.0, tried to Install it but I get a full screen of foto below, & canot close it unless I use CTL ALT DEL, & the "restart" small window comes up to repeat all over again.

AOL say it is a PC problem & cannot help.

PC has 2 Mem sticks 2GB each (shee second foro), & my HD has:-
C:/ 13GB free space

and the other 4 partitions have from 1.3GB to 23GB.

Anybody had same problem?

My PC:-
Asus P5K Premium WiFiiFi Intel Core 2 Quad Pro 2.4GHz, OCZ Vendetta Cpu Cooler, 2x2GB, DDR2 800 PC2-6400, GeForce 9800 GTX (PCI-E), sata 250gb, OCZ 600W Psu, X45, XPhome sp3

Excuse my ignorance about this issue. I didn't think AOL was even in the mix any more. Are you using dial up? If not, why in the world are you messing with AOL and all their crap. There are any number of free email providers available.

If I had to guess I would guess the issue probably is with AOL.

Copying and pasting the URL from the address box will create a working link here.

Sorry about that,

I had the best deal available in their "AOL TALK" for Unlimited Fone calls, fone Line & fast B.Band at £21.49 a month for many years now, & found the free 24hr help tel calls quite helpful.

I use IE, & only use the AOL program to check various things with in it, ie my account& billing.

Can anybody give technical advise on what is the problem.

One thing you can try is to uninstall again and then reun a registry cleaner before re-installing. Ccleaner Slim has a safe, IMO, registry cleaner module. You will be asked if you wish to backup the registry prior to deleting any items identified by Cleaner as unnecessary. I suggest for your peace of mind that you back up to the desktop for easy retrieval. After you are sure all is OK just delete the backup file. Get Ccleaner Slim at the link below. BTW, that program is primarily a cleaner. I use it daily.

You didn't answer the partition question. I asked just about the C partition, if that is where Windows resides. Provide the total partition size and free space on THAT partition.

OK, I was looking to see if your C partition/drive was too full. It appears you have about 27% free.

I can suggest a couple of thing to try. First perform a disk cleanup. I recommend downloading and running the cleaner module of Ccleaner Slim as recommended in #3 above.. Get it at the link below. Be aware that it may delete cookies that save your passwords for various sites. You can exclude them in the settings.

Second, is to disable any Anti-virus software temporarily when attempting to re-install AOL. First clean up the files using the registry module as suggested in #3 above.

Also, exit all ather programs when installing AOL. This actually holds true for most software installations.

You may wish to analyze the C partition to see if it needs to be defragged. Even if AOL is installed elsewhere, your swap file is still probably located on the C partition, which is the default.
