Just built computer with msi 6330{ver 5) with a amd 1400 processor and xp. Xp installed without any problems on new harddrive. No blue screens or nothing. All drivers loaded and device mananager is clean. Computer hangs up. Every time when I dial up the internet with the dialup modem and start surfing with internet explorer it locks up and a few seconds later starts a long continuous beep and the only way to get it going is to restart. I formatted and reinstalled xp again and the same thing. Have 256 ram installed. Computer only has a video card and a modem in it as far as plug in cards. Cd drive and cd writer of all which show to be working properly in device manager. Throw all suggestions this way. Thanks.

Maybe you need a newer driver for that modem.

Tried another modem all together. The first modem windows xp put it in a driver but still freezes the same. The second modem xp didnt put in a driver, I had to and I used the 2000 driver for that modem. Both modems dialed up no problem and connected fine. It seems like the computer is slightly sluggish while not on the internet but when you connect to the internet it is going to lock up shortly there after. I tried installing the 4in1 drivers that came with the motherboard. Same thing. The website for this motherboard says its xp compatible and all but I just cant seem to find what is causing the hangup. I am going to try putting 98 on it and see if the hangup continues. Im still looking for answers if anyone has any.
I ran XP on my MSI 6330 without any issues at all till a transformer down the street freaked out and killed it. Replaced it with an MSI K7T Turbo2, it's the pretty red one. Was under warranty and have had no issues with it either. Let us know how it goes with 98.
