Any Smart one can help me?

I formatted My PC with a 20 GB Hard Disk and Partitioned to 2 Prtition as a usual (C-Primary) and (D-Extended DOS Partition).For installing Windows,I setted_Up WIN98 on C(FAT32) and WIN2000Pro on D
I Formatted and Convert it to NTFS.On Win98 all thing runing good but I can't see the D Partition. On Win2000 I can see the both Partitions but some Erroes appears specially on Microsoft Outlook and FrontPage some Texts on thses Programs appears like ??? and it's not Possible to read.

Anyway,The Problem comes here:

Now I need to Format the HD again,Formatting the C Partition going correctly,But I can't Format the D Partition because when I choose DELET Option on FDISK Messages comes like the following:

Choosing (2)nd Optition (Delete Extended DOS Partition)

C: 1 A Pri Dos 9735 FAT32 %50
2 Ext Dos 9735 %50

When I choose No 2,Message comes underscreen :
Cannot delete Extended DOS Partition while Logical Drives exist.

(3)rd Optiton (Delete Logical DOS Drives in the Extended DOS Partition)

No Logical Drives Found

All logical drives deleted in the Extended DOS Partition

(4)th Optition (Delete Non DOS Partition)

C: 1 A Pri Dos 9735 FAT32 %50
2 Ext Dos 9735 %50

When I choose No 2,Message comes underscreen :

Partition selected is NON Dos Partition

And when I setup Win98 on Formatted C Partition a CAUTION Message appear on the screen said:

Caution: Setup Detection Notice

Caution SU0012
Setup Detected an OS/2 or Windows NT File system Partition on your Hard Disk.Files on this Partition will not be available when you use Winows 98.
For more information see setup.txt on Setup Disk1 or the Windows Compact Disk.

Continue Exit Setup
The Question is How can I find a way to enter to D Partition and Format it.This need a Smart one to Help me.
Waiting your respons and Thanks in advance.

You say that you converted the extended partition to NTFS when installing WIN2000.

It is not possible to format this partition using your 98 bootdisk. You should be able to delete the non-dos partition using FDISK and re-create it as a an extended dos partition. You will lose all data in the 2000 partition. I don't know if 2000 will run on FAT32 but if it will then I'd personally do it that way. I have ME/XP dualboot with both on FAT32. That way both operating systems can see all drives.

Khasraw, don't know if you need a second opinion, but Richard59 hit that one right on the nose. Follow his instructions. Win 2K will run on FAT32. Happy New Year.

From what luck i have, i was never able to delete that partition from the win98 disk.

The win98 boot disk doesn't see NTFS, so it won't regognize the partition or format. You'll need to boot with the win2000 cd, then go to "repair" then delete and reformat from there. The win2000 boot cd gives you plenty more options as it can see both NTFS and FAT32.

You could also look for a cool utility called delpart.exe at http://www.russelltexas.com/delpart.htm it will remove almost any type of partition, but you will loose all data and have to start from scratch

FDISK and sometimes even delpart wont work for me when trying to remove an NTFS partition. Both appear to do the job but the 9x boot disk wont recognize the drive to format it after. This happens when the NTFS partition had windows 2000 on it. So far XP doesnt give me the same trouble.

What does work is using maxblast from maxtor. I have maxtor hd's.. similar utilities exist for other HD's.
