Comment:

I have a pentium III computer with an ECS P6-BATMe motherboard and two 128MB sticks of PC133 memory. With both sticks in the system locks up frequently so I tried to find the fault. I put one stick in at a time and ran Memtest. After an hour's testing no problem was found on either of the sticks. But as soon as they are in together errors are found almost straight away. Why is this happening?

Thanks in advance.

Are both RAM chips the same kind? (ie. are they both Kingston?) I've heard instances where two different type RAM chips will cause problems with each other.

You must have VERY specific types of RAM. You have to look at specs for the motherboard to see the RAM it takes. The types of RAM for the two slots aren't necessarily the same. You might need to different types. And maybe the motherboard can't even handle 256 MB - you might need smaller RAM too.
