Solved An old dell inspiron won't boot up.. beep codes involved

April 2, 2012 at 23:55:29
Specs: Windows XP
I have an old dell inspiron laptop model PP07L. My dad put something heavy on the laptop, and the screen cracked. When I try to boot up the laptop using another monitor I get a black screen with no POST. I also get beep codes that go 1-1, and they only do it once per start up. I've tried remove the RAM sticks one by one and the hard drive, but still no POST. I've yet to remove the CD drive, but the CD drive seems to work fine. I don't know what else I can remove or do..

Any help is appreciated..

✔ Best Answer
The external monitor may not come on automatically, you may need to press the "Fn & F8" together to toggle between Laptop Screen, Ext Screen and both together..

Googling is quicker than waiting for an answer....

You're right, I didn't do that and when I did, I could see the computer working fine. Thanks
