Hi

I have new pc that won't boot up. It worked just fine until I tried to change the CPU-cooler. It was to noisy the standard ones that comes with the CPU. I got a new cooler and installed it - now my pc won't boot up. First the pc started to enter the bios but couldn't detect my harddrive (harddisk, DVD-drive, and CDR-drive). Then I tried turn it off and try again. Now the system won't boot anything - just a black screen - nothing happens. There is power becasue when you hit the power button all the fans starts.
I have a Asus A7v 333 motherboard, AMD 2000+, 256 DDR RAM, Maxtor 80 gb harddisk, Inno3d GF 4 MX 440 graphics card.

I hope some of you can help!!!

Flemming

What kind of "cooler" did you put on there? It is a heatsink and fan? If you installed it wrong you may have fried your new processor. Also make sure you didn't just knock some important cable loose in there.

I have installed a Spire WhisperRock II - Both heatsink and fan.

I don't think It was wrong installed. But I did had to clean off the old thermal pad from the CPU before I could install the new cooler.
I have tried all the cables, Ram but it still won't work. (The CPU dosn't look fried either and it shouldn't be possible to fried a CPU with the Asus A7V 333 motherboard)

amds have a tendency to overheat so it sounds like you burnt your cpu.. but u can always double check by trying that cpu on a diff board

Do you have enough spring pressure on top of your CPU? I don't know anything about your setup, but PIII CPUs had a lump in the center of the processor. This was a switch like an auto horn that requires pressure on it for the processor to run.
