Anything AMD is cheaper. And as good or better.

AMD 1800+ is about $62

P4 4.1 Ghz is about $160.

It's your choice.

There are several benchmarks below where you will find the 1800+, the p4 1.8g northwood, and the older p4 1.8g willamette.

In this particular case I'd opt for the AMD, but get something above the 1800+, it would still be cheaper and perform a lot better. In comparisons other than price, the P4 1.8 at 533FSB and 1800+ are about equal, the 1.8GHz at 400FSB is behind. Get a 2000+ Athlon to beat out both.

get a barton 2500+ only about $80 and can overclock straight from the box to about 2.3Ghz. BEST BANG FOR BUCK
