|I'm building a radox base ("Technically" a robot, but it's not exactly). It needs to run of a battery, and be able to sustain at least 7 hours of life on battery. It requires an internet connection, to be running Ubuntu 11.10+, to support python and chromium-browser. Preferably 2gb+ of RAM, and decent processing power. I live in Victoria, Australia; and therefore am limited to what I can purchase. |
I've found a nice ZBOX on ebay that sports a decent 1.8GHz dual core Atom D525, with up to 4gb DDR3 RAM, for around the $210 dollar mark.
I've also found an acer aspire one with a 1.66GHz single core N450, with 1gb ram (supporting up to 4gb also, though DDR2 and limited to 800mhz rather than over 1,200 like the ZBOX) for just over $220.
I'm sure my problem is clear. The nettop is CLEARLY the better option of the two, it is also not second hand. However. I'm sure it is incredibly difficult to run a desktop computer using battery power, and it also wouldn't have the power-saving options available. It also doesn't have a display, which may prove useful.
I need a computer that would operate in a <11", <11", <1" environment; and survive with being left on 20h/7d. What is my best option for under $250?
Thank you :)
