Hi All,

I've been searching for the last couple of days for an all-in-one printer that would allow faxes to be sent to the PC in PDF or image file. Using the Windows XP fax function isn't an option as my boss wants the all-in-one (need to replace a printer and copier anyway).
I was looking at quite a few printers but none are particularly specific about the fax functionalities.

I would appreciate any help you could give, and if you have an all-in-one printer with the fax functionalties specified above, could you advise me the model and make please

Thank you
Toshi

You can get one of those printer-fax-scanner things and print out faxes the PC receives or you can send faxes with it--either documents that are scanned in or that originate on that PC. As a matter of fact you usually won't need a fax machine to send or receive a fax with your computer. Fax software can convert the file to a fax-friendly format, call the fax number and send it that way. I used to send and receive faxes with a fax-modem card on my old windows 3.1 computer with something called Quicklink II (There's much better stuff now). The only thing I couldn't do was fax an external document--one that wasn't on the computer.

But it sounds lke you're talking about sending a file as an attachment to a fax that can be opened when it's received. Well, that's what email is for.

If you want to send a PDF file (or whatever) to another computer and not have it come page-by-page as a fax then email it. It can then be saved, viewed or printed out when it's received.
