I was thinking about gettin an Alienware next month or so. I want a gaming system and I cant build one myself since I know absolutely nothing about putting a rig together. I hear they are good along with Falcon Northwest? Anyone got any comments on them?

I would appreciate any info you can give. I know I could build one alot cheaper but again I am a cpu moron so I am willing to drop the cash. Thank you.

i've only heard good things about alienware, but i don't have any personal experiences with them. i considered buying one before, but i just decided to spend the cash at a computer fair and just have my computer built for me (still cheap to have a little shop build it for you)

Well I have a deep love for both Alienware and Falcon NorthWest but if it was my money I would go Falcon NortWest. If you can, get your hands on some back issues of Maximum PC you can also get a FREE copy sent to you.

To those that say build your own rig and save lots of money. Let me see the avg. joe, hell for that matter anyone here. Top their paint and cabling jobs as well as there ability to tweak a system without voiding any type of warranty. This is what you are paying for, also top notch componets :)

Just remember this, you can drop several thousand easily on one of these rigs but you will be the envy of almost any LAN party.

Just stick a top of the line geforce 4 ti 4600 in your board and flash ithe bios to the highest CPU it will take and stick in another 256 stick of ram and it will be as good as those super systems.

David, that does not answer his question and no his PC would not be just as good. If I drop a V8 under my hood, get some big rims and tires and place a tach on my dashboard does this make my car just as good as a real sports car? Hell no.

If anyone says you can build just as good as a system or have a local mom and pop do it cheaper you don't understand the niche markert of Alienware of Falcon NorthWest.

The computers they produce are the Ferrari's of the computer world. You might be able to get your local mom and pop to build you a Corvette and own you own a GEO if you don't know what the hell you are doing.

After reading and looking at reviews they seem to be the best you can get. I dont know what makes them better than something you can build-cheaper- but they are sweet looking. The performance scores they get are unreal.

DAMN! I need to break out my spell checker, sheesh!

If you don't understand why these computers are the best at what they do and why they cost as much as they do, you just don't get it. Dell and Gateway won't bend over and kiss your ass. Falcon Northwest will. If you have to call tech support you won't get some snot nose kid who just learned how to use a mouse last week. Ok, I'm not going to go on a rant but visit the web sites and then you might have some understanding and if you ever have seen a Falcon Northwest system in the flesh you would understand what the hell I am talking about. Words can't describe it.
