Ok i was looking the test results for agp and pcie video cards...more specifically the 6800gt versions of both. How come the agp version scored significantly better than the pcie? To my understanding the pcie version is supposed to be faster.....can somebody please explain?

Clive,
Are you really surprised? New technology that's supposed to replace the old because it's supposedly better, ends up to NOT being the case.

Interesting. I haven't seen the 6800gt agp vs. pci-e scores. I, myself, have not yet made the move to pci-e just yet. Like other major hardware or OS, I have to give it some time and see what the users think of it, before I make the switch. Also, pci-e 2 is supposed to come out soon.

I just find it odd how running the same core and everything the pcie ends up dramatically slower.

Summary: Do you mean PCIExpress? Than it'd be faster than AGP. The Radeon 7000 is probably regular PCI, making it dog-slow compared to an AGP or PCIE card. BTW XxxFrancisxxxUSA: I don't think the FX 5950 comes...
Summary: That s3 agp card is not as good as that mx420 pci card. Neither is able to overload its bus' bandwidth so its a fight between gpus and the nvidia wins easily and the agp vs pci impact is zero. The nv...
Summary: Its boxing week; the NVIDIA 6600 GT OC AGP and ATI X700 Pro AGP are both pretty cheap. Suprisingly they are around the same price, roughly $170CAD before tax. Is it worth it to get them now? Because I...
